Video: North Mississippi Medical Center Receives National Recognition

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – North Mississippi Medical Center is recognized for two prestigious achievements. A representative with the American Heart Association presented two awards to the stroke unit and the emergency room staff.

NMMC’s Acute Stroke Unit received the “Stroke Gold Plus Award” which is given to hospitals demonstrating superior performance in stroke care for at least two consecutive years.

Doctors say the honors represent a team effort.

“So it’s the standard of care that is recognized across the country and we are doing that here at a very high rate. We are not here for awards, we are just here to try and take care of each and every patient the best we know how.”

Emergency Room staffers received the “Lifeline EMS Gold Award” for implementing quality improvement measures for patients with severe heart attacks.
