Video: Next Phase of Major Thoroughfare Program Going Before Voters

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -The City of Tupelo hopes voters will approve the next phase of funding for the Major Thoroughfare program.
On Monday they held a public hearing to allow residents to ask questions about the project, which began in 1991 as a way to build and improve the major routes through the city.
Phase Six of the program comes before voters on May 3rd .
“It’s been a remarkable success in helping build roads and enhancing roads all across the city. It makes Tupelo more desirable for residential and commercial development and just the ease of traffic flow around the city.”
Says Mayor Jason Shelton who says, if approved, the program will cost five million dollars a year for a total of 20 million over the life of the program.
