WINONA, Miss. (WCBI) – Before he could even be officially sworn in, new Winona Police Chief Tommy Bibbs is investigating a homicide.

The stabbing took place sometime around 2:00 P.M. Thursday.

When officers arrived, one man had been taken to Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital for a stab wound. He later died at the hospital.

Chief, Tommy Bibbs, says the suspect, Robert Crowder, was still at the scene with minor injuries. He’s currently being held on a $200,000.00 bond.

“The subject, Mr Robert Crowder, after he was done getting his medical attention he was brought back to the police department and that’s when we done the investigation.  Thats when he was charged and arrested.”

That victim was then later identified by the Montgomery County Coroner, Allan Pratt.

“Antwan Aimes, age 31 was stabbed in his lower left abdomen; he was transported to the Mississippi Forensic laboratory in Pearl, Mississippi.”

Bibbs says Crowder and Aimes knew each other.
