TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -Sixteen people are now ready to protect and serve after completing the North Mississippi Law Enforcement Training Academy.
Graduation ceremonies took place Friday at the Link Centre in Tupelo. The cadets will go to work for agencies across North Mississippi
The cadet who won the “top cop” award says he is looking forward to working for the public, in spite of a distrust of police among a vocal minority.
“I have been wanting to do this since I was a young child, I am all about serving and protecting other people, helping the weak, that’s why I did it. It helps a lot knowing that most of the people out there you are working with and working for do support you, it helps out.”
Cadets undergo 12 weeks of rigorous training in all aspects of law enforcement at the academy.
