OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) – A new high school and a renovated middle school will likely mean higher property taxes for Oxford residents starting this fall. The school board is considering property tax proposals that could add anywhere from $25 to $50 a year to the taxes on a $250,000 home. The board will make a decision at its June 23rd meeting when it approves a proposed $35.4 million budget.
The district opened a new high school in January and the old high school will open this fall as a new middle school. The larger schools and growing enrollment mean higher utility bills and 13 new positions.
