TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – The big day has arrived for iPhone fans worldwide. The newest edition of the iPhone is now on sale and retail stores across our area were ready for the demand.
WCBI’s Allie Martin has more.
Customers were waiting when the C Spire store on West Main opened its doors one hour early.
For months now, hype and excitement has been building to this day, when Apple’s iPhone 6 s and 6 s Plus hit the shelves.
“It’s a GPS, it’s a camera, it’s a video recorder, you can browse the internet on it, download games, it’s a gaming system, then you can actually call on it too.”
Mitch Beard of Tupelo was one of the first customers. He has been an iPhone fan for years and he likes the newest version, especially, the bigger screen.
“I’m a Marine Corps vet from the Vietnam era, it will help me with my eyesight, I won’t have to carry a magnifying glass to read the Bible anymore.”
Prices start at $650.00 and go up to 950 bucks, depending on which model you get and how much memory is included.
For Stephanie Hunt, the memory upgrade is critical.
“All of my iCloud, my iTunes , that’s why I wanted to stay with the iPhone, so I could keep all my stuff, here at C Spire, I’ve been a customer for 10 12 years now, when they tell me it’s time to get a new one, I know it’s time to get a new one.”
This store provided refreshments and also gave out pages of blank phone covers for kids to color. Manager Jacob Thomas expects the newest version of the i Phone to fly off the shelves, because of its dependability , improved features and the ever popular Siri, who refuses to show favoritism.
“Who is better, Mississippi State Bulldogs, or Ole Miss Rebels?”
“As of today, Georgia had the better record.”

C Spire reps also say pre-sale orders were strong, which meant less congestion at stores this morning.
