Video: New Fire Rating Means Lower Insurance Rates for Mathiston Residents

MATHISTON, Miss. (WCBI) – Some Mathiston residents will soon have lower insurance bills because of a new fire rating.

The rating went from eight to seventh class, the lowest in Webster County.

Volunteer firefighters achieved the lower rating through equipment maintenance, upgrades and response time inspections.

Maintenance of town wells also helped improve the rating. The town was notified several weeks ago about the new rating.
