COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -A Columbus city leader has plans to clean up the streets – literally.
Newly-elected Ward 5 Councilman Stephen Jones is making good on a campaign promise to clean up trash in the city. And he’s asking neighbors from all across town to help.
Volunteers are asked to come to Sim Scott and Lee Parks Saturday morning to join in the pick-up effort.
Jones was quick to praise the efforts of city workers, but says that they can always use a little help.
“We sent out all of the flyers and contacted all the people, so we’re hoping we will have a good turnout of people tomorrow. You know, but you know even if we just pick up a little of the trash, it’s more than what was done before.”
The clean-up runs from 9:00 A.M. until Noon Saturday
