NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI) – New Albany hopes music will help bring more people to the renovated park along the Tallahatchie River and a national foundation wants to help pay the costs.

The Levitt foundation is awarding the city a $25,000.00  matching grant to be used to stage free outdoor concerts by the river. The popular Levitt Amp series will bring a wide variety of musicians to the city to perform. 21 artists associated with the Levitt Foundation this year are up for Grammy Awards this year. Past Levitt performers include The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Los Lobos and current artists Cory Chisel.

The city will start talks on what artists to showcase in February and hopes to have the first free show set for late spring or summer.
