Video: Nearly 2 Pounds of Cocaine Taken off the Streets
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) –A joint investigation by the Tupelo Police Department and Lee County Sheriff’s Department has taken a sizable stash of drugs off the streets.
Investigators seized nearly 2 pounds of powdered cocaine, with a street value around $50,000.00. They also confiscated $22,000.00 in cash, a firearm, marijuana, and other paraphernalia.
32 year old Rico Elonzo Morris was arrested during the raid.
He is charged with aggravated trafficking. The case could go before a federal grand jury
The investigation began in February when officers were working on a separate shooting that took place at Morris’ home.
“After the investigation was complete , then a complete circle of the problem has come that it was all surrounded around drugs. unfortunately that’s what we deal with in every day society in law enforcement. a lot of our criminal activity, whether it be burglaries, or shootings, or robberies, or anything, it’s all being connected back to the drug cartel, and so with this much getting off the street , that’s a big lick.”
Morris’ bond is set at $50,000.00 .
