COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) –Faculty and Students at MUW took time out to honor one of their own and celebrate diversity. The W held its annual Diversity Award for Excellence Recognition Lunch to celebrate diversity on campus, and to honor Doctor Kimberly Dean Dorsey, the university’s nominee for Black History Month Educator of the Year.
Dr. Dorsey is an associate professor in the Business Department, vice president of the Faculty Senate, and works with several academic and professional organizations.
“I made a conscious choice to come to MUW and teach at a traditional university, in order to provide some diversity for our students; particularly, in the area of business where there are fewer minorities on the front side of the classroom.”
Dr. Dorsey and the nominees from other state universities will be recognized at an IHL event later this month.
