Video: MUW Hosts Mississippi Court Of Appeals

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Mississippi Court of Appeals held proceedings in two cases Monday at Mississippi University for Women.

Students and the public were able to watch and listen to the arguments in Columbus, which usually take place in Jackson. One of the cases involved a Lowndes County murder conviction.

Those in the audience at Cochran Hall were able to ask the judges and attorneys questions afterward.

Judge Jack Wilson set up the visit.

“It’s a great opportunity. I love to talk to students who are interested in the law as a field,” Wilson said. “There are a lot of great things you can do in the law whether it’s public service or private practice.”

The Court on the Road program is designed to educate students and the public about the appeals court.

Judges and attorneys do not talk about specific cases at these events.
