Video: MUW Creating a New “Home” for Freshmen

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) –Mississippi University for Women is working out a new equation:  Freshmen + Campus Life = Higher Student Satisfaction.

For Fall Semester 2017  The “W” is rolling out its Freshman Residency Program. The plan requires all first year students to live on campus.

The goal is to immerse students in Campus Life, and allow them better access to all of the services the University has to offer.

Based on a lot of research that has been done over the past 20 – 30 years, it shows that students strive more when they live on campus. They are more apt to get involved, more apt to get involved with faculty and staff, more apt to use the resources on campus, if they are living with us.”

Those studies show an upside for parents too; Students who live on campus are more likely to earn their degrees more quickly, saving time and money.
