Video: MSU and UMMC Teaming up to Tackle State Health Issues

MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY, Miss. (WCBI) -Mississippi State University is celebrating a new partnership to fight state health issues.

MSU, the University of Mississippi Medical Center and The Myrlie Evers-Williams Institute signed the new initiative today.

The partnership will address issues like lack of food security and other healthcare-related issues in Mississippi.

School leaders say the partnership is a win for both institutions, because it combines resources to help make the state healthier.

” We need to think differently, we need to approach things in new and different ways and that’s through education, that’s through research, but that’s through really understanding the drivers behind the decision making process that we go through everyday.”

The Myrlie Evers-Williams Institute for the Elimination of Health Disparities at UMC addresses child health, HIV -AIDS, minority male disparities and cancer health disparities.
