STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- A mother’s crying for justice after her son was killed in a hit and run accident Monday night.

Oktibbeha County Deputies are still searching for the person who ran over 23 year old D’Shante Nix.

Nix’s mother is pleading for the driver to come forward.

“Who does that to a person. Anybody. If it was your child you’d be out here seeking help,” said Nix’s cousin, Aquila Rieves.

Dominic Nix still can’t wrap her mind around the loss of her son, D’Shante Nix.

“I’m sad. I was just getting used to my son being at home with us,” Nix.

Family members still replay the moment they call got the call, that’s left them empty.

“It hurts me. It hurts her, but I’m standing with my cousin cause she’s going to need me and all her family,” said Rieves.

23 year old D’Shante Nix was riding his bike on Old Highway 25 when he was hit by two cars. The first car stopped to help. A second, ran over Nix and kept driving.

“He kept going. He don’t, he don’t have a heart,” said Nix.

The Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office released video of a person of interest. Deputies say a man driving a yellow Scion was spotted at a nearby gas station moments after the crash. D’Shante’s family says they want the man in jail.

“We want justice. We want justice. Every yellow car that I see, I turn around to see if that’s the car,” said Rieves.

Leaning on each other for support, the family says the closure they need is for the the driver to turn himself in.

“I just want justice for my son. I’m going to miss my son. I mean he took him a 23. He could have stopped. He could have done anything. Pulled over. I mean, I don’t get why he just kept going.
