Video: Monroe County Sheriff Takes Anti-Bullying Message to School

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) – Monroe County is taking school bullying seriously. That was the message from Sheriff Cecil Cantrell Monday at Shivers Middle School. Cantrell explained the consequences of bullying.
Cantrell says the issue is becoming more common throughout schools. And In this particular crime, even students can be charged as adults.
He stressed the importance of documenting how many times the bullying and stalking has happened.
And saving screen shots and other evidence in cases of cyber-bullying.
“You can be charged with stalking, and on your third offense of stalking becomes a felony, and you can be certified as an adult in some cases if it’s bad enough and stand trial as an adult.”
Cantrell also added that if anyone sees an act of bullying don’t hesitate to contact the Monroe Sheriff Department to file a report.
