Video: Monroe County Airport to get Upgrades to Facilities

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The Monroe County Airport can expect a new addition in the near future.The Monroe County Board of Supervisors last week accepted Northwest Bama Builders’ low bid of $367,162 to erect a brand-new airport terminal.

Supervisors said the bids came in higher than expected, but currently, the county has $446,000 put back in federal entitlement funds provided by the Federal Aviation Administration each year, which will go toward funding the new terminal. The construction project will require a 5 percent match from both the state and county, and will include demolition of an existing structure, a temporary terminal and a covered walkway.
