EUPORA, Miss. (WCBI) — If you drive, then you’ve noticed that gas prices are down.
Gas prices have dropped below $3.00 a gallon across parts of the state. It has folks who depend on their cars and trucks for everything from groceries to work keeping their fingers crossed… and maybe dreaming a little of days gone by.
“I just hope it goes down further. I mean I hope it go on down to about a dollar a gallon, would be nice,” said Curtis Burton, Ackerman Motorist
“Praise God that they finally went down and hope they stay the same for awhile,” said April Brown, Webster County Motorist.
The lower fuel prices mean truckers and other transporters also are paying less. That could help hold the line on everything from fresh produce to new clothes. If you use 12 gallons a week, that adds up to about $30 more you have to spend on other things this year than a year ago.
For some, that $30 goes quickly on other necessities. Others say they can stash a little away for a rainy day. Either way, experts say that’s good for the economy, especially heading into the holidays.
At some pumps in Columbus, a gallon of regular gas at some stations is as low as $2.89 a gallon. The lowest prices reported in the state are $2.65 a gallon.
