Video: Mississippi and Alabama Voters Have a Host of Races and Initiatives to Decide Tuesday

Mississippi and Alabama (WCBI) – Long time incumbent, and Republican Thad Cochran will face off against Democrat Travis Childers and Reform Party candidate Shawn O’Hara to keep his seat in the U.S. Senate. Voters will also decide on their choice for the U.S. House of Representatives.
Meanwhile, in a special election, voters in District 17 will vote on which candidate will fill the remainder of State Senator Terry Brown’s term, after his recent death. The district now covers Lowndes County. If the winner opts to seek a full four-year term next year, they will run in the new district, which covers most of southern and eastern Lowndes County and part of Columbus, and parts of Monroe County. Lee County voters will decide on their judicial races…
The race between Governor Robert Bentley and Democrat Parker Griffith has received most of the attention leading up to election day in Alabama. But the ballot also includes contested elections for constitutional offices, congressional seats and five statewide constitutional amendments, from Amendment Five, which would create a right to “hunt, fish and harvest wildlife” within certain regulations to Amendment Three which broadens the right to bear arms, Alabama voters will choose tomorrow when they head to the polls.
Locally, Marion and Fayette County voters will decide on sheriff’s races, among others that include commissioners and school board leaders..
Keep in mind polls open at 7:00AM and close at 7:00PM in both states..
