Video: Math and Science Lessons Take Flight in New Hope

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) -New Hope Middle School doubled as Mission Control Friday afternoon as the Mississippi State Space Cowboys Rocket Team enlisted students to help with their latest build and launch.

Student teams loaded parachutes into the rockets, and customized their space craft.

Each student was given a role in assembling the rocket.

“I think it’s really cool, science, technology, learning about engineering, it’s something that needs to start when you’re in middle school, this is a good time to do that, these kids are really smart and are doing a great job building these rockets, it’s fun to watch.”

The next scheduled launch will be next month to celebrate the end of State testing.
