MANTEE, Miss. (WCBI) – Thousands of gallons of water were pumped in Mantee this weekend as part of new drill.
Volunteer fire fighters from seven neighboring departments and four different counties came out for an intense training drill. The counties included Webster, Chickasaw, Clay and Choctaw. This is the first time they’ve done a drill of this scale to measure water stream and pressure. Over a thousand gallons were being pumped per minute to simulate what it would take to put out a fire at one of their largest buildings in the area.
“We’re working on a process of doing a “missing in action plan” at the Mantee Baptist Church, which is one of our largest structures here in Mantee. We’re seeing if we can sustain water flow in the event this church ever catches on fire,” says Mantee Fire Chief David Brand.
The drill lasted for about two hours and Fire Chief Brand says they’re hoping to repeat the training drill every few years.
