Video: Lowndes County Veteran Wins National Contest

COLUMBUS AFB, Miss. (WCBI) – A Lowndes County veteran is hitting the streets in style.

Sammie Duck of Crawford entered a contest at the Base Exchange at Columbus Air Force Base. Wednesday, he took delivery of a Husqvarna dirt bike.

So, what does a 79 year old do with a new two-wheeler?

“I’ve won only once before. This is my second time winning anything, so you can imagine how happy and lucky I feel concerning that. I’m not positive, but I’m going to keep it and try to ride it first myself, then see what happens. And maybe I hand it down to one of my grandkids.”

Duck spent over 30 years in the Army, serving at bases worldwide.
