Video: Lowndes County Resident Victim of Apparent Drowning at Tombigbee State Park

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -A Columbus man died Wednesday, the victim of an apparent drowning.  Coroner Carolyn Green tells WCBI that the victim was 69 year old Robert Wigley of Columbus.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says his department received a call to Tombigbee State Park just after noon.

The man was last seen struggling with his boat near the boat ramp. Deputies were assisted in their search by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Tupelo Fire Department and several volunteer fire departments.

Wigley’s body was recovered around 3:00 P.M. Wednesday. Johnson says he was not wearing a life vest.
