Video: Long Road to Completion for Chickasaw County Byway

HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI) – A simple road paving project that turned into a long and expensive legal battle is finally coming to a close. Chickasaw County supervisors have approved the final paperwork for paving 1.4 miles of County Road 4 in the northwestern part of the county.

Ausbern Construction won the original contract in November 2010, but the project ended up in court when an engineer miscalculated the amount of materials that would be needed.

Last year, a jury eventually ruled in favor of Ausbern and awarded a total of $570,000.00 in damages. The project has now cleared all state aid inspections.
