VIDEO: Local Range Teaches Gun Safety

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)- A new state of the art indoor gun range has opened in Tupelo.

And more than anything they are teaching safety and skills when it comes to concealed and open carry.

Trigger Time just opened last month. It is a state of the art multi-million dollar facility that is unique to this part of the country.

“They’re just not a lot of places like this around. I’ve traveled all over the country and visited 60 plus firing ranges. This is one of the nicest that I’ve seen,” says firearms instructor Cliff Cargill.
Cargill is a certified fire arms instructor with more titles that we’re going to mention here. Among other things he is a lifetime member of the National Rife Association. He comes to Trigger Time to teach an enhanced carry class.

“The enhanced permit is a permit for people that would like to carry in certain places special places. And we also go through the required one hour legal training. Over the last few years especially with some of the bad things that have happened with different shootings people have gone out because they are responsible for their own self defense. They’ve gone out and they’ve armed themselves and now they’re seeking training,” says Cargill.

One of those attending the class was Marisol Justice of Tupelo.

“I think that it’s just really important for people to get educated especially of they are going to have a fire arm. More than anything education is the greatest defense. So I think everyone needs it, man or woman,” says Justice.

While Mississippi is one of the pro-gun states in the country Cargill says the election of Donald Trump last month means that there should be some positive things coming down the pike for gun owners.

“Now they’re looking at a national concealed carry bill where you’d be able to move about all fifty states with your gun permit the same way that you would move about with a drivers license,” says Cargill.

Justice scoffs at the argument that stricter gun controls can somehow make a community safer.

“Those areas that have the tightest gun control law always have the worst violence because let’s face it, they’re criminals. They don’t obey laws. That’s why they’re criminals,” says Cargill.

He says when you come take a class at Trigger Time, you’ll learn to do it right
