TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – If you think life is tough now, think about Northeast Mississippi more than 150 years ago.
On Saturday, members of the Tombigbee Pioneer Group were on hand at the Natchez Trace Visitors Center to demonstrate what folks had to do in the mid 1700s to the mid 1800s to get by.
“They’d probably learn something that they didn’t really know a whole lot about,” said demonstrator Robin Capps. “Because most people don’t do basket weaving and things like that now, so the way people survive.”
Demonstrators say there are about 20 members in the group that put on these demonstrations every third Saturday of the month, except for December and January.
