Video: Local Fraternity Helps Out Boys and Girls Clubs

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -Monday may not have been the best day to man the grill, but a local organization was out there braving the heat for a good cause.

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated hosted a community cookout for the Boys and Girls Club of Columbus.

They were also collecting school supplies for the upcoming year.

The kids had a chance to meet some Columbus Firefighters and tour their firetruck.

Members say these events show kids that there are people who care about their future.

“I think it’s always important that we try to give back and do something for the kids, because at the end of the day they’re the future, and I feel like with us being grown ups, we always have somebody looking at us. Even though we don’t know who’s looking at us and what they might be thinking, but at the same time they need somebody, a role model that can help them and give them good guidance from the mistakes and things that go on in their everyday life.”

The proceeds from the event go to the Columbus Boys and Girls Club.
