Video: Liquid Propane Fire Exercise Lights Up The Night

TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – A drill conducted by the Mississippi Fire Academy lit up the night sky in Tupelo.  The LP tanks were brought to the parking lot of the Bancorpsouth Arena by the  Fire Academy.

The exercise is part of training taking part this week for Tupelo and surrounding fire departments.

“This is something we really didn’t have a problem with in the city until now,when we did annexation, took in some residents out in rural areas that have propane tanks used for fuel and heat. Now, it’s something we really have to be concerned about because if we have a structure fire we have to worry about the exposure of a propane tank,” said Romeco Traylor, Training Officer with the Tupelo Fire Department.

The State Fire Academy offers the LP firefighting training every few years.
