Video: Legendary Hitmaker Dan Penn Plays on Hometown Stage

VERNON, Ala. (WCBI) -He has written a string of hit songs for the likes of Aretha Franklin, Alex Chilton, and Wilson Pickett, and been a mainstay at studios from Muscle Shoals to Memphis. Thursday night, Dan Penn returned to the stage where it all started for him. The Vernon, Alabama native played a show before a hometown crowd at the Vernon City Auditorium.

The Alabama Music Hall of Fame member performed from his library of classics, and he wowed the crowd with some tunes from his new album. Proceeds from Thursday’s concert will go to the Vernon City Parks budget.
