Video: Lee High Class of ’44 Meets for 70th Reunion

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Seven decades of memories. The S.D. Lee High School Class of 1944 celebrated their 7oth high school reunion Thursday at the Lee Home in Columbus. Local class members began meeting for a monthly luncheon 15 years ago, and decided to reach out to others for this year’s milestone. A total of 12 class members made it back for the special reunion…70 years to the day after they graduated from high school.

“It’s always good to see your people you’ve known a long time and haven’t been able to make contact with,” said Pat Shackleford, a member of the Class of ’44.

Sammie St. John said, “It really is exciting, and we’re just thankful that we can be here because so many of our classmates have passed away, and we would like to memorialize them later on.”

Class members traveled from as far away as Jackson and Birmingham to attend.
