TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Lee County Supervisors are working with the North Mississippi Medical Center to make sure the northern and southern ends of the county have adequate ambulance service.

During the regular meeting of the Lee County Board of Supervisors, representatives from NMMC discussed the best locations to stage ambulances in the county.

NMMC already has an ambulance stationed in Guntown to decrease response time.

Now, a permanent location is needed for the  crew.

“Right now they sit in the ambulance for , when they’re not on calls, for many hours and it’s uncomfortable and they have to leave that area, to get , use restrooms or stuff, that’s what our conversation was today, to find a location in the north.”

Supervisors are also working with hospital administrators to find a location for an ambulance station in the Shannon area.
