LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-A Lee County substitute teacher is out of jail on a $15,000 dollar bond after being charged with two counts of sexual battery. 24-year-old Blake Whitt waived his right to a probable cause hearing in circuit court. He was arrested by sheriff’s deputies, and ordered by Judge Sadie Holland to have no contact with the alleged victim, her family or third parties associated with her. Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says his office first heard of the allegations last week by the parents of the 15 year old victim. “We began to look into it and executed a search warrant at Mr Whitt’s home where some electronic devices were taken, those are at our laboratory being analyzed and we were able to take off some text messages , other articles of interest that helped us prosecute this case,” Sheriff Jim Johnson tells WCBI. Officials say Whitt worked as a substitute teacher at Mooreville High School five times this year. He was also ordered not to go anywhere near the school as a condition of his bond. His case will go to the Grand Jury in March.
