TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -Teachers, staff and administrators at Lee County Schools were encouraged to make every child feel special as the new school year is about to begin.
Nearly 700 Lee County teachers, faculty and staff were at Tupelo’s Orchard Church, for the annual back to school convocation.
District employees reviewed policies and procedures, and went over state mandated sessions, such as workplace harassment training and how to serve homeless students.
It’s all part of an effort to help all district employees be ready for the first day of school next Wednesday.
“That first day is just as busy for us at the central office as it is at the schools. We will get a lot of calls, maybe from parents who didn’t know to get their children registered for school, or where they need to go, or what they might need to do as far as getting their child on a bus so it’s a busy day, very exciting.”
Superintendent Jimmy Weeks encourages parents to call the Central Office if they have any questions about the start of the new school year.
