Video: Lee County School Board Recognizes “Team Lee” Athletes

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -School may be over, but the Lee County School Board took time Tuesday night to honor some student athletes.

“Team Lee” is back from a successful showing at the Mississippi Special Olympics. The team brought home some impressive hardware from the State Games, taking 8 Gold and 6 Silver medals.

Taylor Rosenthal of Shannon will represent Mississippi at the World Games in L.A.

It was also announced that Tupelo will be the first Mississippi stop for the Special Olympics Unified Relay Across America Torch Run. That event will kick off June 9th at 6:30P.M. at Fairpark. Anyone wanting to join the run can sign up at www.unifiedrelay.org; cost is $10.00. The Relay continues at Toyota Blue Springs on June 10th. Toyota is a major sponsor of The World Games.
