Video: Lee County Names Teacher of the Year

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)–A veteran teacher gets a big honor from Lee County schools. Kathy Waycaster was named Lee County School District’s Teacher of the Year. Waycaster was named top teacher during the district’s regular school board meeting.She teaches third grade at Shannon Elementary and has taught since 1999.  She has taught several other grade levels and is also National Board Certified. Waycaster says she is honored by the award:

“I’ve always attended Lee County schools, I ”ve always felt that we have such great teachers and students that it’s just an honor to represent my school and an honor to represent this district because I believe in Lee County Schools.”

Waycaster will advance to the competition for Mississippi’s Teacher of the Year.   Thirteen other teachers were also honored from individual schools in the district.
