Video: Lee County Man Faces Domestic Violence and Kidnapping Charges

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A Lee County man is accused of hitting his wife and holding his family hostage for nearly 20 hours. 37 year old Richard James is charged with four counts of kidnapping and one count of domestic violence.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says James held his wife, and three children earlier this week. Once law enforcement heard from the victim, an arrest warrant was issued.

“We are also in the process , with the Department of Human Services, after searching the home and seeing the conditions the children lived in, for them to open an investigation to see if there are some possible charges there that they can follow through with, as well as some protection orders we are getting into place to protect these people from this particular person.”

Bond for James was set at $200,000.00.
