TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A week long summer camp is teaching youngsters about history in a hands on way. Tupelo’s Oren Dunn Museum is hosting its annual “History Makers” camp. Participants get to take part in a variety of activities, such as building birdhouses, making catapults, and learning about the museum and historic facts about the region.
Organizers say it’s a fun way to learn about history.
” It is just to engage the kids in our museum , we do all kinds of activities with them, they actually get to set up their own exhibit and it’s kind of a break in the morning time for their parents, we have them all morning.”
Items made by the campers will be on display at the end of the week .
