TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A longtime crime fighter is named officer of the year. Keith Roberson is chief deputy with the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Department. He was named officer of the year during the annual luncheon for Crime Stoppers of Northeast Mississippi.
Roberson has served for more than 20 years, he has worked as a K9 officer, narcotics investigator and now chief deputy.
“It’s just a great honor and a great privilege to be recognized among all the other officers in the room with us and throughout the state of Mississippi.”
Three officers injured in the line of duty received Purple Heart Awards, and longtime Chickasaw County Sheriff Jimmy Simmons received the Lifetime Service award. Simmons was not able to make it to the lunch, so his sister accepted the honor on his behalf.
