VIDEO: Junior Auxiliary Hosts Anti-Bullying Presentations for Middle Schoolers
NEW HOPE, Miss. (WCBI)- The Junior Auxiliary Board of Columbus spent the day educating middle schoolers on the affects of bullying.
Students participated in the Speak Up Speak Out project at New Hope Middle School.
They learned about the consequences, of being a bully, being a bystander, and being the target.
Leaders in the auxiliary say bullying is becoming more and more common, and too many people are committing suicide because of it.
“We want them to understand that there are avenues they can take, there are teachers, counselors, there are other people here to hear them. We want them to know what a bully is, what a bystander is, what a target is, so that they are more aware of a situation when they become involved in it,” says Sally Edwards with Columbus Junior Auxiliary.
The Junior Auxiliary will come once a month throughout the remainder of the school year to continue to speak with students on the matter.
