Stories and memories were shared of the Jones children during the emotional memorial service.
Most church members church saw the children just this summer when they visited Amory Church of Christ for Vacation Bible School.
“Well, I just saw them briefly but just sweet little smiling faces that I hope enjoyed the VBS. And that’s what I’m trying to think about and that their okay now, ” said Minister of Amory Church of Christ, Phillip Hathcock.
Throughout the week, the community has surrounded the family as they try to wrap their heads around the situation and grieve.
“Several churches have cone together, several people have contacted me asking what they can do for the family. Of course at this time, the family wanted some privacy, give them an opportunity to let this set in, allow them to grieve but certainly I know they would appreciate prayers, ” said Amory Mayor Brad Blalock.
Amory Church of Christ minister says it’s important to support the family.
“And it is very important that people have the support of other people when things are going well and certainly when things are going so hard on them, so bad. Its good that we can try to show some love and concern and care for people,” Hathcock said.
At the end of the service, hundreds of balloons were released in the children’s memory. A small gesture that helps begin mending a family and their broken hearts.
