HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI) – Houston has begun work on an addition to the fire station that should help keep fire trucks out of the elements.
The foundation has been poured and contractors are hoping for a couple of days of good weather to start erecting steel on the new structure.
The city says the building will be invaluable during cold weather when water pumps on the trucks can freeze and spring a gasket. It will also protect them from the blazing sun in summer which is also not good for the vehicles.
The three bay building will face south and the trucks will roll onto Harrington Street.
The new building will improve the city’s fire rating from a Class 7 to a Class 6.
