Video: Houston Sundancer Solar Car Race Team Gets Generous Donation from VFW

HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI) – Houston High School’s Championship Solar Car Team gets a generous donation to help them move down the road. VFW Post 4272 is donating eighteen thousand dollars to the Sundancer Team.

The Houston team took top honors for the fourteenth year in a row this Summer. Now they’re gearing up for next year’s challenges. The donation will help to meet those challenges, but for team members it has a deeper meaning.

“It means a lot, not only to the students, but to the whole community. You have to have your people to support you. Without people supporting you, you really don’t have the thing to go for. But with the support of others, you have something to look forward to in the end.”

The Sundancer plans for 20 15 include a trip down under to the World Solar Car Challenge in Australia.
