Video: Houston Solar Car Team Prepping for This Year’s Challenge

HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI) – The Houston Sundancer Solar Car team is getting ready to hit the road for their 14th National Title. The team and their improved Sundancer are all packed and ready to head to Fort Worth,Texas for this year’s Winston Solar Car Challenge. This year’s event consists of both closed track and open road races. The competition starts on the 21st with 2 days of racing at the Texas Motor Speedway. From there they will race through the Texas Hill Country to Austin.
This is the fourteenth year that Houston High School has competed in the Challenge. They have taken top honors in all thirteen of their previous outings. But for the team it’s all about doing their best on the track.
“So, it’s a little different attitude for us, and we’ve got mainly new kids this year. So, that’s all different for us. I expect us to get out there and just try our best. ”
” And we are also going to have a mentor helping us out this year. And we have new cells, so we are hoping to be able to win.”
The Team leaves Houston Wednesday morning at 4 A-M.
