WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – As the holiday season approaches, crime rates began to rise. Homeowners are always looking for new ways to keep their families safe.
High tech cameras generally used for outdoor activities are now being used inside to help catch suspected thieves in the act.
“Cameras have become very sophisticated these days with technology. They actually provide a great security system outside and inside your home,” says Chris Davis, General Merchandising Manager at Mossy Oak in West Point.
Game cameras don’t come with an alarm but they can take high quality images in the dark, giving homeowners another way to monitor their property. The Infra red cameras are generally used for outdoor activities like hunting and camping. These pictures, taken by a game camera, show a suspected burglar inside of a Hamilton residence.
“If you’re going to put it in your house, the easiest way to do it is probably a dresser, around the front door, back door, on a banister upstairs, kitchen counter or anything like that,” says Davis.
Game cameras range from $99 to $239 on average and can tape in color or black and white.
“These are actually very user friendly. They run off double A batteries and also they use SD cards now which are compatible with most everyday computers. You can also take them to Walmart and put them in the picture viewer and blow them up as well,” says Davis.
Statistics show that theft and burglaries increase as during the holiday season. Game cameras are another way that residents can keep a look out.
