Video: Head Start Center Opens in Weir

WEIR, Miss. (WCBI) – It’s back to school for 80 children in Choctaw County.
The Board of Education has agreed to open a Head Start at Weir Elementary School.
The Federal Office of Head Start closed programs in Choctaw, Webster and Montgomery counties last year after numerous complaints.
The CDI manages troubled Head Start programs across the country on an interim basis.
CDI will manage the program for the next year, working to provide services to children and find a permanent replacement.
The Weir Head Start agreement includes four classrooms and administrative space. The school district will be reimbursed for meals. Transportation is not yet available.
CDI has re-opened Head Start programs in Eupora and Lexington.
The pre-school program serves children ages 3 to 6 years old.
