Video: Harvey Taking His Toll on Gas Tanks Too

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Tropical Storm Harvey forces the nation’s largest oil refinery to shut down.

Other oil and gas rigs are also shutdown, meaning gas prices are going up.

Prices are already up to $2.19 in Columbus.

mississippigasprices.com  reports the average price for a gallon in the state is two dollars, 16 cents.

Just a week ago, the price was seven cents cheaper.

The increase is a national trend that’s expected to increase over the coming days.

More than 14% of the manned platforms in the Gulf of Mexico are shut down.

Offshore facilities will be inspected once the storm has passed.
