TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – The memory of a Tupelo teenager who passed away during his freshman year in college is honored with an annual charity golf tournament.
The 11th annual “Clay Waycaster FCA Golf Tournament” was held at the Tupelo Country Club. The tournament is benefits the Fellowship of Christian Athletes throughout Northeast Mississippi.
Waycaster passed away unexpectedly at the age of 19 when he was a freshman at Ole Miss. He was an active leader in FCA.
“FCA wants to disciple the leaders, we want to put bibles and resources in the kids hands, to help them. Not everybody is called to preach but everybody can read so we give them bibles that they can do devotions and lead huddles and materials for bible studies,” said Mark Boren, director of Northeast Mississippi FCA.
In past years the tournament has raised twenty thousand dollars.
