TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Teachers who teach gifted students spent the day learning new and creative ways to connect with the high achievers. More than 50 gifted teachers from across Northeast Mississippi met at Tupelo’s CDF offices for a conference called “Day of Discovery.” It was hosted by the Lee County School District and featured speakers and group exercises designed to give gifted teachers new ideas and ways to reach the star students.
“We want the teachers to leave with inspiration for their gifted students to bring back to their classroom, gifted children, offer neat and unique challenges and we want each child’s learning to be individualized, to notice the gifts that are in every child and build on those gifts.”
This is the first year the Lee County School District has hosted the gifted teachers conference.
