PONTOTOC, MISS. (WCBI) – Cameras that hunters use to spot game are also being used to help authorities nab criminals.
Pontotoc County Sheriff Leo Mask says his department has cleared several burglary cases and trespassing complaints because the culprits were caught on cameras that were installed to capture wildlife.
Sheriff Mask says the game cameras are an inexpensive and effective crime fighting tool.
“They video, they take pictures, you can set up them either way and we’ve solved a couple of crimes with them, you have a lot of people who have them around their property , for not only wildlife , but to make sure nobody trespasses,” Sheriff Mask said.
Sheriff Mask says good wildlife camera costs around $100 to $200.
