Tupelo, MS (WCBI)–From their prison cells to the church pews, some Lee County prisoners remembered the reason for the season. West Jackson Street Baptist Church welcomed them for its final Christmas program rehearsal. The church has been inviting the non-violent offenders from the Lee County Jail for the past several years. It helps the group prepare for a live audience, and it allows them to share the meaning of Christmas.
Sheriff Jim Johnson says the inmates will be locked up during the holidays, and he wanted to make sure the Christmas Story was shared with them.
